How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the price by the percentage and divide by 100 to get the discount; subtract it from the price. Example: 20% of 500 = 100, you pay 400.
How do I calculate a tip?
Multiply the bill by the tip percentage (10%, 15%) and divide by 100. In mode 1: 15% of 850 = 127.5.
What does a negative percentage change mean?
The final value is lower than the initial one: it is a decrease. For example, from 200 to 150 is a −25% change.
How do I calculate the VAT included in a price?
Divide the final price by 1 plus the rate as a decimal. For example, with 16% VAT: price ÷ 1.16 gives the base without tax, and the difference is the VAT.
How do I find what percentage an amount is of the total?
Divide the part by the total and multiply by 100. For example, if you scored 45 out of 60 on a test, (45 ÷ 60) × 100 = 75%.
