How it works
How it works: we run Tesseract.js, the open-source OCR engine, right in your browser. The image is processed locally pixel by pixel and the recognized text appears below ready to copy. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Use cases
- Extract the text from a whiteboard photo so you don't copy all the notes by hand
- Digitize a paper invoice by photographing or scanning it and turning the data into editable text
- Recover the content of an old scanned document so you can search for keywords inside
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to any server?
No. Tesseract.js runs entirely in your browser. Your images never leave your device.
What image quality do I need?
The sharper and straighter the photo, the better the result. Screenshots and scanned documents work very well; blurry or tilted photos may produce errors.
Does it recognize Spanish text?
Yes. It uses the Spanish model by default, including accents and ñ. You can switch to English if the document is in that language.
Does it work with handwriting?
Not well: OCR is optimized for printed or digital text. Handwriting usually gives poor results.
