Are my photos uploaded to any server?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser using canvas. Your images never leave your device, so it is private and works even on a poor connection once the page loads.
What quality should I choose?
For regular photos, 80% is the sweet spot: much smaller files with barely visible difference. For the web, 70% is usually enough; for printing, use 90% or more.
What is the difference between JPEG, WebP and PNG?
JPEG is best for photos (adjustable lossy). WebP is even smaller at the same quality and supported by all modern browsers. PNG is lossless, better for screenshots with text or logos.
Why limit the max width?
Many photos come out of the camera at 4000+ px wide, overkill for web or social media. Shrinking to 1920 or 1280 px cuts weight dramatically with no visible difference on screen.
