How it works
How it works: the Tanner mid-parental height formula: boy = (father + mother + 13) / 2, girl = (father + mother − 13) / 2, in centimeters. The usual range is ±8.5 cm. A statistical estimate: nutrition, health and other factors matter.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is it?
Within ±8.5 cm in most cases. It is the reference formula pediatricians use, not an exact prediction.
What else influences height?
Childhood nutrition, sleep, exercise and general health can move the result several centimeters either way.
Does it work for teenagers?
Yes, but if the puberty growth spurt already happened the estimate loses meaning: track the growth curve with the pediatrician.
